I lead the RHB Advisory and Tax team and I’m proud of the practical work we have done to assist so many clients get their businesses back on track and achieve growth. Over the years I have amassed a vast wealth of business acumen derived from RHB hands-on assistance inside functioning businesses. This is an important difference between RHB and other accountancy practices – we do the real-life work required at the coalface to turn companies around. We work directly with company owners and managers. We’ve walked in their shoes, we know what they’re thinking, and the risks they are taking. It would be pointless trying to advise companies without understanding what they are going through. This approach has enabled me to apply my strong technical skills and business insight to our clients’ needs. I’m a member of the Institute of Directors, hold multiple directorships and chair two boards, but I wouldn’t be able to fulfil those roles if I hadn’t experienced the business world for 10 years first, before qualifying as an accountant in 1997. As a Chartered Accountant, I was a senior taxation specialist at two of the Big 4 accountancy firms before coming to RHB. I’ve worked with many of New Zealand’s top corporations at board level over the past 10 years and have extensive experience in the restructuring and turnaround of businesses, especially in regard to the income tax and GST issues that arise. I grew up in Tauranga in the 1980s and graduated from university with a Bachelor of Business Studies. My family still lives in Tauranga, and I enjoy the variety that comes with my role at RHB. I am of Tuwharetoa descent, and provide advice for several North Island Iwi. Outside work, I like playing golf and am a big fan of local speedway. |
